Of the 428 couples that participated in the study, 22% had used acupuncture. 17% used a carefully designed medicinal herb regimen and only 1% tried meditation. Massage and chiropractic visits were used by 5% of the participants in the California study.

The infertility study found that couples were 150% more likely to try alternative therapies if they were not successful with conventional treatments. The older a hopeful mother was, the higher the chance the couple would use alternative treatments after failed conventional treatments. Many medical professionals believe that hopeful mothers will try any type of treatment, but many women have been successful with alternative treatments to infertility.

The financial standing of couples having trouble conceiving is a large factor in their choice to undergo alternative treatments for infertility. Conventional treatments are very expensive and some couples are unable to afford the therapies needed to improve their chances to have children. Couples with an income of $200,000 a year were more likely to undergo conventional treatments than couples whose income is below $100,000 a year. The typical cost of an acupuncture visit for infertility is $100 per visit, which is less expensive than in-vitro fertilization that can cost more than $16,500 per try.

Understanding the development of your baby can be a perplexing thing. As a parent you are watching your baby at all times and monitoring their every move. When your child makes progres,s you are happy and feel safe about their overall development, but when they don’t appear to be making the progress they should, it is easy to be overly concerned. After all, there are a myriad of developmental problems an infant can have. It’s important to remain calm and to not assume the worst, even when the signs seem to be pointing in that direction.

Babies often progress at different rates. There are those that progress quickly and ahead of the curve while others may take time to get up to par with the rest of the babies their age. Even children who seem far behind can make enormous leaps in progress. There is nothing to worry about unless the baby shows severe limitations.

When you do see an issue with your child, you should simply inform the doctor. If the doctor sees reason for concern, then you can rest assured they will do their job and refer your baby to a specialist. If the only specialist lives far away, you may want to relocate closer.  Visits to specialists can often times be frequent.  In this case, be sure to get some moving quotes so that you aren’t surprised by unexpected expenses.

If your doctor doesn’t refer you to a specialist, but you still believe there is a problem, then take it upon yourself to get a specialist to work with the child.
