Life Insurance for Future Parents

As a future parent, life insurance is important for yourself and your potential children. This insurance can pay for death expenses, provide inheritance for your heirs, and pay for other costs after you pass away. It helps take financial stress off your loved ones once you’re gone. You should consider life insurance before you have children, as your finances can get side tracked while paying for the cost of having a child. It is also crucial if you don’t want to pass on your debts to your children.

Why Have Life Insurance?

Life insurance is important to covering several expenses after you die, relieving your spouse or children of that responsibility. Life insurance is used in many of the following situations:

  • The cost of your funeral and burial. The average funeral costs well over $6,000, so having life insurance is a great idea in order to cover these costs.
  • Unpaid bills, such as medical bills.
  • Charitable causes. Many people have life insurance to gain a sum of money to donate to charitable causes.
  • Inheritance for your heirs.

Cash Value

Cash value is an investment that can be included in an insurance policy. This makes it possible to access this money without penalties, in the case that you need extra cash, usually during retirement. You can access this money by terminating your insurance policy or applying for a cash loan where your policy’s value is used as collateral.

Other Advantages

Other advantages to having life insurance include:

  • Financial safety for your loved ones.
  • The choice of what price you pay.
  • Premiums can be lower than regular insurance.

Expect the unexpected

Baby on mother's belly right after birth, skin...

The time is almost near for you to meet the child you have carried for the past nine months, but are you prepared or do you know what to expect once you go into labor and give birth to your child?  If this isn’t your first, then you already know what to expect in this eventful, yet rewarding day.  The following will hopefully give you insight on what to expect on that day.

There are 2 different types of delivery of your baby.  The most heard of, and probably the most safest is considered to be a vaginal birth.  In certain situations, but not always the doctors will use instruments if needed to help guide the baby down the birth canal.  One of the devices used is a vacuum.  With this instrument they will put it on the babies head and use it as a suction cup with the doctor pulling on his/her end to help ease the baby out. Another instrument is what is known as forceps.  These resemble large spoons. The same concept is used for forceps as with the vacuum.

Sometimes for medical reasons a cesarean is needed.  A cesarean is an incision made into the mothers abdomen and then finally reaching the uterus. If your baby is not in the birth canal head down, your baby becomes distressed while in labor, if the baby is too large to pass in the birth canal, these would all be reasons for a medically necessary cesarean as found on  http://www.webmd.com/baby/guide/delivery-methods.

Finding the Right Car for Your Family

When you are starting a family, you may have to transition from your sporty two-seater to something more practical. If you are having trouble deciding what car would work for your family, consider leasing a car.

When leasing a car, you’ll want to consider whether you want to buy it or not, and then refinance when you do. This method allows you time to try out the car you have and see whether you like the way it drives and feels. You can also test whether it meets your growing needs. Once you have made up your mind, you can begin a loan that will allow you to buy the car.

To begin the car refinance process, find out what your current monthly payment is and look at the car’s documents to see what the buyout price of the car is. This is what you will pay for your car. Look at the documents to see whether there are any penalties for refinancing. Once you have found this information, submit an application to the lender of your choice. A good credit score and timely lease payments will get you a better interest rate.

You can only refinance a leased car if you intend to buy it, so be sure you have made up your mind. If you don’t want to keep the car, continue with the lease. Refinancing is a great way to lower the cost of your car payment, which can be surprisingly high for a leased car. Not only will it allow you to lower your monthly expenses, but it also allows you to be on your way to owning your car completely.

Tips for Men in the Delivery Room

While a man doesn’t have to do nearly the amount of work a woman does in the delivery room, it can nonetheless be an intimidating experience for the man. The first child can be a traumatic experience for a man long before he hits the delivery room. Often, men are freaked out for the entire nine months leading up to the birth and have virtually no idea what to expect once they are in the delivery room. Here are a couple tips and tricks for men to remember as the big day approaches.

1.) It’s not about you- That’s right, you had a hand in creating the baby, and you have just as much a small role in the delivery of the child. Just as you have been there for your partner over the last nine months, you need to be there for her during the delivery time. The most important thing you can do is be there to hold her had, take the abuse, and do things like run for ice chips or to the cafeteria for her if necessary. Don’t complain that it’s taking too long or that you are bored or anything on that nature. Simply be supportive and you will be doing your job.

2.) Be prepared for new sights and smells- Childbirth is a beautiful thing, but not everything about the process is beautiful. There is often quite a bit of blood inviolved and it can produce smells you are unfamiliar with. Hopefully this is common sense but do not draw attention to what you see or smell. Like I said, it’s not about you.

Remember to be supportive and your partner will be thankful.

An Overview of Birth Control Methods

Modern technology has revolutionized the way humans live their lives, including intimate relations. Because of the invention of birth control, people can have these intimate relations without much worry of conception. With these methods of birth control, you can achieve control over your life and better prevent any unwanted pregnancies to occur.

Contraception for Males:

The Condom
This barrier device acts as a sheath for the penis. It prevents sperm from entering the vagina. There is a wide variety of condom types, and they’re relatively inexpensive. They are predominantly made of latex, but are also made of sheep skin or polyurethane, among other materials.

Vasectomy
This permanent method of birth control deals with the severing of the vas deferens tubes, the tubes that connect the testes to the urethra, and then sealing them with either stitches or cauterization.

The Male Pill
Yes, that’s right. Soon enough, it’s the male’s turn to have a go at ‘The Pill’. In a nutshell, this pill will suppress a man’s sperm count while maintaining levels of testosterone. It’s entirely reversible.

Contraception for Females:

The Female Condom
It’s essentially the same thing as the male condom, but in reverse. The female condom, made of polyurethane or synthetic nitrile, is a long sheath that is inserted into the vagina, stopping any sperm from actually having the chance to inseminate the egg.

Emergency Contraception
This form of contraception deals with the ingesting of a pill that prevents ovulation or fertilization. It’s better known as “The Morning after Pill”, and only works within a certain time-frame of sexual intercourse.

The Pill
This is seemingly the most popular form of birth control, ingested daily, that’s extremely effective. It contains hormones, typically estrogen and progesterone, that alter the functions of the uterus and ovaries to prevent pregnancy. If even one day is skipped, it’s not effective, and a back-up form of contraception must be used, like a male or female condom.

How to Choose the Gender of Your Baby

Typically, parents to be have an ideal gender for their first child. It’s believed that selection of gender is not possible, and that it’s entirely random. Because of modern knowledge and the advancement of technology, this has been proved wrong. It very well may be possible to influence the gender of your baby before pregnancy occurs by following certain methods.

To Have a Boy:

The Shettles Method
This is a method developed by Dr. Landrum Shettles.

-You must familiarize yourself with your menstrual cycle by charting your Basal Body Temperature.
-Eventually, you will be able to more accurately predict the point of ovulation.
- The male should refrain from ejaculating 4-5 days prior to ovulation.
- Using the Basal Body Temperature charts, determine time of ovulation. Sexual intercourse should occur 12 hours prior to ovulation.
- Utilize sexual positions that allow for the penis and ejaculate to be as close to the cervix as possible. Entry from the rear can assist with this.
-The female orgasm will aid in the travelling of the sperm to the egg.

Specialized Dieting
-Meat,with red meat being most effective
-Caffeine
-Salt

To Have a Girl:

The Shettles Method
-Your must familiarize yourself with your menstrual cycle by charting your Basal Body Temperature.
-Eventually, you will be able to more accurately predict point of ovulation.
-Begin to have unprotected sex after your period ends.
-Try to have sex once a day.
- Three days before your predicted ovulation, stop having sex.
-To increase your chances of a female, choose sexual positions that position the ejaculate closest to the vaginal entrance.
-You should avoid achieving orgasm to prevent any acids in the vaginal canal that are unfavourable to the conception of girls.

Specialized Dieting
-Chocolate
-Vegetables (Fresh preferably)
-Different kinds of fish (any)
-Sugar (any)

These are but a few options to potentially choose the gender you want. Good luck.

All About Water Births

Some people think that there is only one way to go about giving birth. There are alternative methods that could possibly reduce the stress, pain, and pressures of giving birth for both the baby and the mother.
One of these methods is water birthing. This is essentially a method involving immersion in a tub of warm water. This method was first studied by Igor Charkovsky in the Soviet Union during the 1960’s. A French researcher took on this method in the late 1960’s, but it wasn’t until the late 1990’s that water birthing came to prominence in the United States. In the beginning, the practice of water birthing was done at home, but later moved to the medical, more sterile environment of the hospital.
Here are some of the benefits and risks of this method.
Benefits:
Comfort
The mother has freedom of mobility and the soothing capabilities of the warm water. Muscles relax, and anxiety is relieved.
Reduces Pain
The water reduces the pain, allowing for the possible negation of painkillers. A natural birth is more of a possibility.
Eases the Pain of the Second Stage of Labour
The warm water softens the tissues of the vagina, reducing the chance of tears in skin tissue.
Risks:
Infection
There is a concern that the water would increase the chances of infection in the baby and the mother.
Slowing of Labor
Because of the relaxing effects of the warm water, the intensity of contractions may be slowed down. Because of this risk, some hospitals follow the “5 centimeters rule”, meaning that the woman can’t enter the tub until the cervix is at least 5 centimeters dilated.
Maternal Blood Loss
Because of the nature of water, care providers who are not experienced with water birthing may not be able to determine the loss of blood
While there are risks, they are circumstantial and not definitive. The research shows that the benefits outweigh the risks.

All About Childbirth Classes

Most parents to be will be encouraged to take some type of childbirth classes prior to the birth of their baby. They may find that their doctor recommends that they take these classes. Or they might find that their families tell them how helpful the experience was to them. There are a number of different childbirth classes that you can take. Two of the most popular methods of childbirth classes are the Lamaze method and the Bradley method.

Regardless of which method of childbirth classes you choose to attend, there are a few basic items that are usually covered during each session. Generally, parents to be take childbirth classes during their last trimester. This is so that the information will be fresh in both people’s minds when the time comes for the baby to be born. Another reason for waiting until the baby is close to being born is so that both people will be comfortable doing the techniques on the woman when your stomach is large.

If at all possible, both the mother and the person who will be helping her during the birth should take the childbirth classes. This will enable both partners to be comfortable with the techniques that are taught and used for these classes. A backbone to these classes is being able to control the inevitable pain of childbirth be concentrating on breathing techniques.

Having the woman focus on her breathing, and having her partner help her to breath slowly and rhythmically, she will be better able to relax through her contractions. When the woman is tensed up during her contractions, she is in even more pain than she would normally be if she was feeling relaxed.
In addition, the woman and her partner learn to perform other relaxation techniques. These techniques include gentle message, soothing music, and cheerful pictures.

Your relationship with your children should be based on love and trust. However, most parents will admit that trust is often misused and desecrated by kids. Kids tend to be immature and often commit mistakes, presuming that they will not be caught. In such a scenario, it may be very difficult to maintain your trust.

There is no harm in giving repeated chances to your child, provided that they are not in danger or do not face any harm. However, the internet can be a very dangerous place for a child to surf without any supervision. There are numerous fraudulent websites that are waiting for just such chances to come their way.

From financial loss to psychological scars, there are many disadvantages of being exploited on the internet. In such a scenario, the best way to tackle the problem is to download software applications that will keep track of your children’s web surfing activities.

If you feel that this is unethical and immoral, just think about the consequences of your child getting injured on the internet. From financial loss due to improper submission of financial data on a fraudulent website, to exposure to unsafe and unsuitable material, you will be taking a huge risk if you simply work on the basis of blind trust.

If you download software programs for supervising your child and you find that your child is living up your trust, you can always remove the program as a mark of your respect for your child’s abilities to stay disciplined. On the other hand, if the child ignores your instructions, you can carry out further moral teachings to ensure that the child understands the risks involved. Use such programs as a necessary evil, and remove from your computer things that may be unsafe.

Four steps to baby-proofing your home

Bringing home a newborn can be one of the most exciting times in a new parent’s life. Once the nursery is put together and organized, it’s also important to ensure that once your new baby starts crawling, he or she is not at risk while exploring their new home. There are a few simple steps that can help keep your child safe.

The first item to check is that all electrical outlets are covered with plastic plugs to avoid electrical shock. Young children are curious and one never knows what they will try to play with. These outlet caps are relatively inexpensive and one of the most important items new moms and dads should install.

Next, ensure that all items that fall on the floor are promptly picked up. This includes magnets, paperclips, coins, small toys and anything else that would be easy for a small child to out in their mouth and swallow. This also includes drapery cords. Take careful notice to make sure that all blinds and drapes have shortened cords to avoid the risk of strangulation.

In addition, install childproof locks on all cabinets and drawers. This will help ensure that young children cannot access hazardous household cleaners or other items that are stored under sinks or in kitchen cabinets. Drawers will be secure and children will not have access to sharp items or other household materials that are safely stored away.

Last but not least, make sure that sharp edges on tables and chairs are covered. This will help avoid bumps and bruises in high-traffic areas. Corners and edges can be covered by soft rubber bumpers sold at most baby stores.

Many new parents spend time purchasing the items that will assist in taking care of their new child, and the steps mentioned above should also be implemented to keep children safe from harm’s way.
